NSM Challenge #4 - Falling For Fall!

Fall arrived during National Sewing Month, so it's only appropriate that our last sewing challenge for the month is fall-related!  Start thinking of falling leaves, ripening pumpkins, and warm apple cider for inspiration, then sew up something that signifies "Fall" for you!  If you need some visual inspiration, how about these wonderful "fall-ish" projects from Sew News:

Aren't they adorable?  Check out sewnews.com for info on those project how-to's, but make sure you come up with your own original idea for this contest.

Now the important stuff - The Rules:

1. Make a fall-inspired sewing project. It MUST be a new item made specifically for this contest.

2. Take a picture of your finished project and email the photo to rebecca@arrowcabinets.com by Friday, October 5th at 5 pm Eastern time.

3. The projects will be voted on by Arrow staff, and the winner will be announced here on the blog on Monday, Oct .8th.

Ornament Challenge Winner!

It's time to reveal the entry and the winners for our National Sewing Month Ornament Challenge!  All of the entries were awesome, and they really put us in a festive mood!  Just see for yourself:

National Sewing Month - Challenge #3

Okay, you should be wrapping up those entries for NSM Challenge #2, so it's time for Challenge #3!  We fell in love with the cute sewing boxes made from old tins that were featured in the latest issue of Sew News:

Aren't they adorable?  We'd love to see what you can come up with, so dig out those empty tins and get started!

Now the important stuff - The Rules:

 

1. Make a sewing kit out of an old tin (or even a cute box). It MUST be a new item made specifically for this contest.

2. Take a picture of your finished project and email the photo to rebecca@arrowcabinets.com by Friday, September 28th at 5 pm Eastern time.

3. The projects will be voted on by Arrow staff, and the winner will be announced here on the blog on Monday, Oct 1st.

National Sewing Month - Challenge #2

By now you should all be wrapping up those entries for our first National Sewing Month Challenge.  The deadline is Friday Sept. 14th at 5 pm Eastern!  For our next challenge, we thought we'd motivate you to get ready for the winter holidays - they'll be here before you know it, and it's always nice to be ready ahead of time! For Challenge #2, we're asking you to sew up a winter holiday themed ornament, whether it be a cute star for your tree, or something pretty to tie on to a Hanukah gift.  Heck, if Festivus is your winter holiday of choice, you could make a Festivus ornament too! 

The prize for this challenge is this awesome June Tailor set - Press 'n Cut mat, thread organizer, bobbin organizer, and Button Bank.  Just think how organized you'll be!

1. Make a NEW ornament for the winter holiday of your choice from fabric.  There must be some sewing involved and it MUST be a new item made specifically for this contest.

Our Friday Winner (Finally)!

Sorry for the delay gang!  Our social media person spent most of her day yesterday on planes and is playing catch up!  But you don't care about that right?  You just want to know who won this cute apron!

National Sewing Month Sewing Challenge #1

September is National Sewing Month, and we are celebrating all month long with fun challenges and giveaways!  For our first sewing challenge, we read your suggestions, and decided on....

The Upcycled Clothing Challenge!

 

Get out those tattered jeans, those too-small t-shirts or that skirt you never wear, and make something new and fun!  For a little inspiration, how about these cute coin pouches made from dress shirt cuffs:

We spotted them on Camilla Fabbri's blog, Family Chic.  Aren't they adorable? Visit her blog for more fun ideas!  Be warned, you may spend hours checking out all of her great ideas!

 

Now, The Rules:

1. Pick out a piece of used clothing, and take a picture of it before you cut it up!

 

2. Use that old piece of clothing to make something new.  The only restrictions are that the new project cannot be another article of clothing, or a purse (we've seen way too many upcycled purses - we're looking for something original)!.

3. Take a picture of your finished project and email BOTH photos (before and after) to rebecca@arrowcabinets.com by Friday, September 14th at 5 pm Eastern time.

4. The projects will be voted on by Arrow staff, and the winner will be announced here on the blog on Monday, Sept. 17th.

National Sewing Month Pop Quiz Kickoff!

It's National Sewing Month - yippee!  Let's celebrate with a little "pop quiz"!  We'll ask six questions, the answers to which can be found on the Arrow/Kangaroo websites and our Facebook page.  Once you've found all of the answers, put them in one email and send them to us at rebecca@arrowcabinets.com by Sunday, Sept.2 2012 at 5 pm Eastern time.  We'll put the names of everyone that answers ALL of the questions correctly into a hat, and draw a random winner after the deadline.  The prize - one of our new adjustable chairs!
